The men's and women's under-16 basketball team from Guinea Bissau arrived last night in the city of Thies in Sénégal to participate in the FIBA zone-2 tournament that will start from the 27th to the 30th of this month. The Guinean caravan, led by the technical director and general secretary of the federation, arrived by bus in Thies at around 11pm.
The team's first training session at the multipurpose Seed is scheduled for this afternoon.
It should be remembered that the teams from Guinea Bissau, Senegal, Guinea Conakry, Gambia, Mauritania and Sierra Leone participate in this tournament.
It is also noteworthy that this is the first FIBA National Team event for any Guinea-Bissau National Team in over 10 years.
In September, Guinea-Bissau hosted an international U21 tournament with Senegalese and Guinean clubs and the Gambia National Team. This week, Guinea-Bissau takes bigger steps by sending its U16 boys and girls to Dakar, Senegal.
