Competitive History

The Guinea-Bissau Basketball Federation was founded on October 1, 1988. The program has produced many great players and coaches who have represented the country. Such as Issue Cassama, Rui Ferrage, Braima Sambu, Seco Camará, Manuel Sico, Josimar Cardoso and more.

In 1994, the Basketball Federation was affiliated with FIBA, this landmark event brought together enthusiasts, players, coaches and stakeholders under a unified umbrella to promote and develop basketball at both grassroots and professional levels. With a clear mission to promote inclusion, talent development and competitive excellence, the Federation has embarked on a journey to raise the profile of the sport, attract investment and cultivate a vibrant basketball culture in all communities. Through strategic partnerships, robust governance structures and innovative initiatives, the Federation has since catalyzed remarkable growth, increasing participation rates, improving infrastructure and nurturing a new generation of basketball fans around the world.
